Trip Ideas

Vancouver Island and Gulf Islands Wine Region

The tranquil Gulf Islands and the east side of Vancouver Island enjoy a very mild climate and a long growing season, as well as less rainfall than some of BC’s other wine regions. As a result, a wide range of grape varieties thrive here, including Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer, Riesling, Chardonnay, Gamay, Ortega, Muller-Thurgau, Pinot Blanc, Gewürztraminer, and many others. Wineries share the forested seaside landscape with small organic farms and artisanal food producers, earning the valley the nickname the "New Provence."
